Most of us have known the pain of losing a beloved bun. There are so many emotions after losing a pet rabbit; including sadness, anger and guilt. While those feelings are normal, the most healthy thing we can do in our grief is honor our past pets by remembering them and moving forward a little more fulfilled because we got to have them in our lives and love them.
To submit your past bun to honor him or her, please send a photo and anything you wish to share about your bun to us. We will honor your rabbit on the Memorial Hall on this website.
Most of all, please know your feelings of grief (among many other feelings) are normal and that you are not alone. There are many others who have gone or are going through a similar loss and are hurting too. This is a chance for us to share and comfort one another, which is one of the best ways to heal and honor our beloved buns at the same time.
Without further ado, let’s honor one recently passed bun one of our readers shared with us recently:
Remembering Rudolph
Rudolph’s human, Melissa, shared with me that her beloved bun recently passed away due to an ear infection. She is heartbroken as she did everything possible to help him recover. He passed away peacefully at night while everyone was sleeping - eagerly taking his favorite treat before bed.
To honor Rudolph, Melissa shared some things about her sweet bun:
Rudolph was a laid-back boy who didn’t mind being held and enjoyed being around the family
He got his name because Melissa and her family adopted him around Christmas time
Rudolph was curious and loved to explore, dig and chew (especially on cords, which Melissa quickly bunny proofed - the Christmas tree was never safe from Rudolph!)
Enjoyed laying next to his dog friend, Angel but ruled over all his dog siblings
Favorite treats: dried strawberry slice and Oxbow Dill cookie
